Creative Matters: Episode 7 - with Catrina Lloyd

Updated: Apr 8

Catrina is an abstract painter from Muriwai Beach, North West of Auckland, with a passion for interpreting the many layers of her natural environment.

Whenever she is outside in Muriwai she can't help but see endless paintings, endless textures, colours, lines, shapes, light and movement, and so much west coast energy.

She enjoys translating what she sees through mark making and exploring different techniques using paint, ink, dye, pastel, pen and pencil.

Listen to our podcast to find out more about Catrina's life, painting process and practice and the inspiration she gains from the place she lives and the nature around her.

"I have been enjoying creating these layers and translating what I see through exploring different techniques using paint, ink, dye, pastel, pen and pencil."

"Painting helps me to be more present and to observe. I have been learning to give over to the process of the work and let go of the end result."
